ANTONAS & ORAIOPOULOS FOUNDED BUILT_EVENT IN 2004
BUILT_EVENT is the name of a series of projects carried out by a non-stable working team of architects, scientists and artists, realized in different places each time. The preparation of the projects may last several months and the actual workshop usually lasts a few weeks. Both stages are recorded in detail and this recording is part of the project. Some contributions are deposited after the completion of the workshop and are also included in the project.
2Bridges_ builtEvent 2
The project focuses on the area around the abandoned metal military bridge and a parallel reinforced concrete bridge, in an area where German paratroopers landed and the most known clashes in the Battle of Crete occurred. On 3 July 1941 the Germans executed 12 men from the nearby village, in reprisal for the execution of the crew and paratroopers of a German plane that landed in emergency near the first bridge two bridges second bridge
